360 Feedback Questions for Consultants
16 ready-to-use questions, example comments and tips — plus a free tool that runs the survey and writes the report for you.
Consultants move from project to project, often working with a different manager, team and client every few months. Feedback gets lost between engagements, and the people who saw the work up close may never be asked. A 360 collects views from project leads, fellow consultants and, where appropriate, client contacts. These questions fit management, strategy, IT and implementation consulting.

Delivery and ownership

Teamwork and development
- How well do they share knowledge and materials with the rest of the project team?
- How willingly do they support and coach more junior colleagues?

Example feedback comments
Good comments are specific, describe behaviour rather than personality, and explain the impact. A few examples:
Strength
“When the client's CFO challenged our numbers in the steering meeting, she walked him through the assumptions calmly and offered to rerun the model with his figures by Friday. He became our strongest supporter.”
Growth area
“He tends to finish slides the night before the client meeting, which leaves no time for review. Sharing a rough draft two days earlier would let the manager shape the storyline.”

Tips for a useful 360
- Run the 360 at the end of each major engagement while memories are fresh, then look at patterns across projects.
- Include project managers and partners, fellow consultants, and one or two client contacts if your firm allows it.
- Keep client questions short and limited to what they actually saw: communication, reliability and the quality of advice.
Frequently asked questions
Should clients give 360 feedback to consultants?
They can add a valuable view, especially on communication and trust. Ask permission from the client lead first, keep their questionnaire short, and combine their answers with feedback from the project team.
How often should consultants get 360 feedback?
After each larger engagement, or at least twice a year. Because teams change often, collecting feedback at the end of a project is the best way to capture what colleagues saw.
